I'm ditching this account in favor of a new one. :iconaqui-miserez:

I'm not taking the gallery with me, it'll all still be here for people to see, but I will be disabling the comments feture on them. It will never again be updated.

Why? Be because as time has passed the Ashreila account has become the opposite of what I wanted to be. Now, in order to move ahead in my art I have to abandon this gallery and start a new one.

If you want to find me, just click the icon at the top of the journal entery, but keep in mind that it will be a while before anything is uploaded to the new gallery as I finish tieing up the lose ends here.

To all of those who have shown me the love and respect of a fellow artist, and to those who haven't you have my love and appreciation.

An Attempt to Take Action

A little ealier today I took a walk to the marsh near by my apartment building to servey the trash that had accumulated there, and see about picking some of it up.

When I got there I found the city had come in and some effort in getting the garbage up, but more people were still putting it there.

I better explain just as to what all tihs is about. Recently, land developers started looking at what remained of our wetlands for constuction even though a large chunk of the Buckroe area was earmarked, and evacuated for auction and (hopefuly) urban renual. There are signs posted everywhere saying save Hampton City's wetlands, but I haven't seen anyonoe accuaully going into the wetlands themselves to clean then up.

There are a fair number of alcoholics, underage drinkers, and local high school students who come there as it is a quasi-social gathering point. There may even be some area homless sleeping there going by the blanket I saw thrown over a tree. As a result of this, stormdrain run off, and the weather patterns that come with being a coastial city. The litter runs the gammit from beer bottles + cans, to computer parts. Some of it even comes from out of state as the waste managment industry likes to use southern states as depositories fortrash and other waste produced by commercial, and industial indevors form urban centers.

There isn't much I can do about what ends up oin the water untill I get some water proof gear, and a handheld net. The trash on land, while seeing someone else giving this try ir refreshing (the city sometimes will come down there and do a little house keeping), some of it has been ther so long that thorny vines have and toher plant life have grown around it.

Nextime I try this I'll come better prepared.

Under the Radar

Earlier in the course of the week I got a note from the dA staff saying that one of the pics in my galrey was banned. I'm not really bothered by this, I figured "Gaia's Plea" would have been removed eventually. What supprised me was the fact that four other deviations in my gallery would have to be removed for the same reason, copyright infringment, because I didn't have the written consent of my sources, but they were still there because they had managed to ecape this, and have been there longer.

I ended up letting them know that to ban one means banning them all, and they were thusly removed. I really shouldn't have to rub the nearly defunct automated system in there faces. I bet there are peices through out deviantART that woul fall under the same catigory. Leaving me and many others to ask as to why there still there.

Here are some of my guesses.

1) Being that this is a world wide museium run by a relitivly small staff (likely no more than a few hudred people at most, more likley less) that the volume of entries is to great to keep up with.

2) The tradition of using magizine clippings as collage material leads to an number of deviations more or less protected from being reported. (in some cases it may be a good thing)

3) Some of the images aren't readily recogniseable. ("Gaia's Plea" had a satalite image of the Earth taken by some countries obitin camera, the "Pro Life?" series had pic from various and in some cases obcure web sourses)

To those who feel they were unfair censored my condolances. To those who made the common mistake I did, it happens but atleast we now know how to keep it form happening agian. An email or a letter of consent from your source.

The world is becoming more and commertialized, but at least there are legel ways around it.

Thank you for reading this semi-rant.

Picking up the sake cup,
I run my fingers over the smooth crystal.
Gazing at the engravement on the side
as I contemplate the words that I don't understand.

It seems so fragile to hold,
yet it has seen years of abuse.
The many nights in the tea house
it saw as it continually fell from grace.

Tossed aside or across the room
in bereftment or anger. Only to be
gathered and clensed by the would be geisha
as she weeps inside.

My fingerprints now marring the once pristine surface,
I see that it has fallen again. As I fill
the modest vessel and drink from the empress,
together we fall.

Looking it up, a spam journal.

Yeah, this is a spam journal. When I get bored I look stuff up online at Wikipedia [link]

I know, I'm weird.

Verisimilitude - 1. the property of seeming true, of resembling reality; resemblance to reality, realism
2. a statement which merely appears to be true

actuality - 1. the state of existing; existence
2.the quality of being actual or factual; fact

comparative literature - critical scholarship dealing with the literature of two or more different linguistic, cultural or national groups. While most frequently practiced with works of different languages, it may also be performed on works of the same language if the works originate from different nations or cultures among which that language is spoken. Also included in the range of inquiry are comparisons of different types of art; for example, a comparatist might investigate the relationship of film to literature.

conscientious objector - Someone who refuses to fight in an armed conflict because of religious or moral principles.
