Earlier in the course of the week I got a note from the dA staff saying that one of the pics in my galrey was banned. I'm not really bothered by this, I figured "Gaia's Plea" would have been removed eventually. What supprised me was the fact that four other deviations in my gallery would have to be removed for the same reason, copyright infringment, because I didn't have the written consent of my sources, but they were still there because they had managed to ecape this, and have been there longer.
I ended up letting them know that to ban one means banning them all, and they were thusly removed. I really shouldn't have to rub the nearly defunct automated system in there faces. I bet there are peices through out deviantART that woul fall under the same catigory. Leaving me and many others to ask as to why there still there.
Here are some of my guesses.
1) Being that this is a world wide museium run by a relitivly small staff (likely no more than a few hudred people at most, more likley less) that the volume of entries is to great to keep up with.
2) The tradition of using magizine clippings as collage material leads to an number of deviations more or less protected from being reported. (in some cases it may be a good thing)
3) Some of the images aren't readily recogniseable. ("Gaia's Plea" had a satalite image of the Earth taken by some countries obitin camera, the "Pro Life?" series had pic from various and in some cases obcure web sourses)
To those who feel they were unfair censored my condolances. To those who made the common mistake I did,

it happens but atleast we now know how to keep it form happening agian. An email or a letter of consent from your source.
The world is becoming more and commertialized, but at least there are legel ways around it.
Thank you for reading this semi-rant.
